Many parents gasp when they see this list and immediately think that it is going to be impossible to implement. Of course, this is completely your choice. We just offer these recommendations so you can try them if your child is having a difficult time in school or at home with over-active behavior, lack of attention, disobedience, or aggression. Choosing to modify a child's diet is much better than teaching them to pop pills to solve problems. The new fad word "hyperactivity" doesn't count. To us, that is just normal childhood behavior. However, the most important reason to try these diet changes is that they work! Even if you can only do one at a time and progress slowly, there will be a noticeable difference almost immediately. 1. Make sure your child gets plenty of physical exercise. Not finger exercise operating the video controller or television remote, but outdoor exercise of the sweating variety. This helps with detoxification and helps them rest better at night. 2. Make sure they get a good nights' rest, at least 8 or 9 hours of sleep, and that they eat a good breakfast. (eggs, meat, fresh fruit, etc.) 3. Encourage them to drink lots of water. In fact, replace all soft drinks, fruit juices, and pasteurized milk with purified water drinks. 4. Eliminate all grains(or as many as you can). This includes pasta, rice, corn, wheat, oats, cereals, breads. If they insist on grain, oatmeal is the least offender, but limit it to once or twice weekly. 5. Eliminate all sugars, including artificial sweeteners. Read the label. If its says, lactose, sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltodextrose, maltose, dextrose, corn syrup, honey, or corn syrup solids, don't buy it. Instead use stevia, or organic evaporated cane sugar. 6.. Cook only with coconut oil. 7. Give a multivitamin supplement daily. High calcium/magnesium protein shakes are nutritious and help children focus. Krill Oil caps provide omega 3 and Sun Chlorella is a good probiotic that aids in heavy metal detox. Dr. Lendon Smith also suggest: 1000 mg. Calcium, 500 mg. magnesium, 50 mg. B-6, 1000 mg. Fish Oil (Krill Oil). Best of all they are all natural - medication free! 8. A good rule of thumb is - the only thing you should be eating or drinking that is white is cauliflower or coconut milk. |
